The Colts trot off with the Equestrian Trophy

Two teams with strong equestrian command competed for the Equestrian Trophy in the first annual Equestrian Knowledge Bowl on Thursday, February 24. The 40-minute game show style test of knowledge, complete with audience support, challenged the teams’ horse-sense to correctly answer question after question within a mere 20 seconds each.

The Colts, captained by Anna Teshu, and including Ethan Pavlon-Blum, James Cordaro, Jahkai Stowe, and Austin Van Schaick, were quick to buzzer, an advantage in such a close race. The members of the Fillys, Matt Michles, Jake Sperber, Simon Ziff, Brittany Feichtel and captain, Ian Mattson were confident in their answers with few errors along the challenge.

After an impressive display of knowledge and recollection by both teams which brought the challenge down to the very last question, the Colts trotted off as the 2011 champions with the final score of 33-32. They will be honored with a display along side the Equestrian Trophy in the equestrian classroom. The Equestrian Knowledge Bowl was an exciting afternoon of horse-fun and all the students showed great sportsmanship and the friends they invited were supportive audience members as well.
