Glenholme graduates the Class of 2010
Adorned in caps and gowns of blue and white, the 21 members of the Glenholme School's Class of 2010 have every reason to be optimistic as they walked in a processional to the courtyard ceremony where nearly 400 family, friends, students and staff applauded and cheered. The June 23 commencement ceremony marked their final moment together before they each step forward into a promising future.
The consistent message throughout the commencement ceremony was of acknowledgment and celebration of these fine individuals for their achievements and academic aptitude. Citing each graduates most memorable qualities, Executive Director Maryann Campbell commended them for their accomplishments and heaped praise on the graduating class as a whole, "We are here to celebrate and honor your accomplishments. Take with you all that you have achieved and the wonderful moments of people and friends that have shaped your lives." Ms. Campbell also thanked the parents for their commitment to the school and the effort they made during their child's school years at Glenholme.
The 60-minute ceremony included several awards. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Citizenship Award is given each year to one graduating senior who has demonstrated the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their school as well as with in the community. Two other students were honored with Glenholme Scholarship Awards to assist them with the post-secondary education endeavors.
In closing, Dr. Patrick Queenan reflected, “Look around and take this in. This place is filled with pride and admiration for your accomplishments.” The Glenholme Class of 2010 is the largest graduating class in the school’s 41-year history and nearly 80% will be pursuing a post-secondary collegial experience; a testament to the determination of each student as an individual and the class as a whole.
