Glenholme celebrates the grand opening of new barn

Canter, quite possible the most pleasurable pace of horseback riding, may best describes the steady growth of Glenholme’s Equestrian Program. This month, the school celebrates the grand opening of the new barn. Ideally located adjacent to the horse paddocks, the charming new barn provides comfortable space for six horses in roomy stalls with individual turn-out areas, a tack room, and a large classroom where students are taught the essentials of equine care and riding skill development.

The addition of the new barn enhances the opportunities for students to explore the extraordinary connection that exists between horses and humans. Young people once timid and shy become confident in the course of their time spent with these magnificent creatures. Confidence leads to a feeling of independence and self-worth that influences other aspects of their daily lives. Those with difficulty socializing build special bonds with their new horse friend rekindling a sense of connection with another living being acts as a powerful antidote.

Maintaining the steady canter of the Equestrian Program is essential for student development at Glenholme and the tools learned in this program can be applied throughout life. The addition of the new barn enhances Glenholme’s equestrian program and permits continued growth into the future.
