Glenholme goes on a Heart Six Adventure

An eight member Glenholme group, comprised of two staff and six students, journeyed to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in early July for a 7-day, 6-night adventure at the Heart Six Guest Ranch.

Rebecca C, Mercy P, Madsion Q, Patrick B, Will S and Andrew O, along with Heather Perssonatti, Glenholme’s Equestrian Program Coordinator and Leigh Cushing experienced a ranching adventure of a lifetime. The days were filled with exciting activity from dawn to dusk with trail riding, swimming and hot tub, shopping in downtown Jackson Hole, attending Jackson Hole’s weekly rodeo, chasing cattle on horseback, cookouts, campfires, a scenic water float trip along the Grand Tetons, and square dancing.

One day the group split and the girls and Ms. Cushing adventured to Yellowstone National Park where they witnessed the hot springs, the Yellowstone portion of the Grand Canyon, and abundance of wildlife including a couple of Grizzly bears. The Heart Six Ranch Guide, Miles, took the boys and Ms. Perssonatti on a 10-mile trail ride into the heart of the wilderness, where they tied the horses up to trees and fished on a wild river. Will caught a 16" Cut Throat Trout and Miles remarked that it was one of the biggest fish he witnessed being caught.

On their last day, everyone participated in the ranch’s version of a rodeo complete with barrel racing and pole bending. Awards were bestowed upon the participants:
Mercy- 3rd place in Barrels
Rebecca- 2nd place Pole Bending
Madison- Most Determined
Andrew- Rodeo Prince
Will- 3rd place Poles
Patrick- Rodeo King

Congratulations to the rodeo riders and happy trails.
