Students spend a day at WestConn

On Thursday February, 28, Ms. Proctor-Floyd took Brett B, Emily H, Dan M, Will P and Sebastian W to visit the campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

The students attended a 50-minute lecture on health promotion and exercise and then toured the midtown campus with coordinator Rich Emmett. The students toured education buildings, the library and the student center, where the students had lunch. They were excited not only at the prospect of so many food choices, but also for the chance to eat with college students.

After a question and answer session with Mr. Emmett, the students headed to the west side campus. They took a self-guided tour, ending with a visit to the O'Neil Center where WestConn was holding an all-day event, "Athletic Day." The students were invited to participate in any of the activities including: Wii, rock climbing and football. While there, a WestConn student took the time to explain to them what college life is like.
