Glenholme reaches out to less fortunate during holiday season

Throughout the month of December, the Glenholme community showed their holiday spirit through a variety of projects.

Section 1 students collected gently used coats for donation to a local charitable organization. The students received a large assortment of winter wearables, from toddler-size snow suits to formal dress coats. The initial donation began before the holiday break and a second donation is anticipated for mid-January.

Ms. Dahl's Responsive Class developed a fundraising program for Hurricane Ike survivors. In a single day, the fast-acting group of eight raised a total of $219.38, of which $77 originated from soliciting student contributions and the remainder resulted from direct sales of baked goods thoughout the campus. Their efforts will aid the 11 families of the Devereux Center in League, Tex, affected by Hurricane Ike.

The Glenholme School delivered holiday cheer to two local families through their Second Annual Adopt-A-Family program, sponsoring a family from The Women’s Center of Greater Danbury for the second consecutive year along with a New Milford family of three, their first direct school-to-family sponsorship. Faculty and students pulled together for this single gift-giving purpose. The students of Section 2 ran a campus-wide sale of baked goods and hand-made ornaments while the faculty organized a special auction. The two groups raised over $700 toward the gifts, which supplemented the spectacular gift giving efforts of the entire school.
