Simple Acts of Kindness Program Begins

Starting immediately, all members of the Glenholme community are encouraged to begin enhancing character by actively demonstrating how simple acts of kindness can improve the quality of your life - and the lives of those around you.

The process will begin with a creation of a paper chain representing an act of kindness performed by a member of our school community. Each link will also serve as the “form” on which students detail a simple act of kindness that they have performed, to be reviewed and verified by the responsive classroom teacher. Review will consist of discussing with the student whether the subject of the simple act of kindness fits the definition of a “kindness” or was simply an act of common courtesy or civility.

As the chain grows to reach benchmarks of 100 ft, 250 ft, 600 ft, 1000 ft and hopefully 1500 ft, special student “celebrations” will take place to reinforce participation. The word “celebration” is to be stressed, as opposed to “reward,” as we will be celebrating a “better, kinder Glenholme” and, as we all know, kindness is its own reward.
