Girls self dependent program christens Rose Court
Last month, the girls self dependent program at Glenholme formally renamed the Glenholme One cottage "Rose Court." At a ceremony in the dining hall honoring the program and the cottage, the girls read the Rose Court Honor Code. During the reading each student held a yellow rose and then presented Ms. Campbell with a rose and a word of thanks.
Ms. Michaud and the girls of Rose Court are holding an opening house for staff and the Vanholme girls to tour the cottage on Wednesday October 17 from 3-5 p.m.
The Naming of Rose Court
Hello, we are the girls of the new self dependent program. We have been working very hard on choosing a name for our cottage. We are pleased to announce our name: Rose Court. We are very happy Rose Court was the name chosen for us because it signifies Ms. Van Sinderen and her love for roses. As the Glenholme building is positioned next to the rose garden and the beautiful courtyard, we thought it fit to have the second part of our name as Court. We would like to thank everyone for giving us this beautiful cottage and the opportunity to grow and continue to learn within the Glenholme family.
The Rose Court Honor Code
We, the founders of Rose Court, were chosen because of our positive behavior, achievements and loyalty to the program. We have set this honor code for ourselves and future members to abide by. Our honor code relies on each individual's commitment to be our sisters' keeper.
We will respect ourselves, and have personal pride in all we are involved in. We will respect the boundaries set by ourselves and others as well as respecting the opinions and ideas of others. We will respect the environment inside and out in which we live. We pledge to respect the rules and expectations set by staff and fellow students. Overall we pledge to have a respect for our community. We will be our sisters' keeper.
We will be responsible by considering the consequences of our actions; thinking before we act is a must. We will do the right thing even when no one is watching and be responsible with our privileges and time. We will be our sisters' keeper.
We will have integrity at all times, respecting ourselves and others enough to tell the truth, even if the truth is difficult to hear or say. We will be truthful to ourselves. We will accept our strengths and weaknesses as we assess ourselves without bias. We will be honest in making our schedules, and be truthful to others about our whereabouts. We will be our sisters' keeper.
We will be compassionate and empathetic to our fellow members of this community. We will always be willing to offer a helping hand to those in need. We will care for our environment in which we live. We will care for our own health as well as the health of those around us. We pledge to take care of this home, as it was intended for us. We will be our sisters' keeper.
We understand we make up only a small portion of the Glenholme family and we will work together with everyone to make the community in which we live a better place. We pledge to take pride in our community and be proud of all our individual differences.
