Glenholme Students Visit the American Museum of Natural History in New York Bright and early Tuesday morning May 2, 2006 35 students took a bus from Glenholme to New York City to visit the Darwin exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History. They had spent weeks prior to the trip learning about Charles Darwin and his work; each student had an assignment from their teacher asking them to explore the exhibit, make and record observations and then apply what they had learned to their assignments. They saw an IMAX presentation about the Galapagos Islands, an exhibit concerning ocean life and finally the Darwin exhibit. Students were excited to see authentic manuscripts written by the man they had been studying as well as remains and displays of animals that helped Charles Darwin to formulate his theories. Each student was also able to purchase a souvenir shirt depicting Darwin’s first tree of life. Further information can viewed at the website http://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/darwin/.
