Summer Camp Trots in with New Equestrian Program
WASHINGTON, CT (June 14, 2004) - Glenholme is proud to offer Connecticut's
youth an unique summer enrichment experience. The Glenholme School
is inviting young people of Northwest Connecticut to partake in
this year's Summer Arts Adventure featuring a new Equestrian Camp.
In its sixth year, Glenholme's Summer Arts Adventure is expanding
upon its unique performance and fine arts experience with an Equestrian
summer camp. Young people ages 9-12 can choose to attend the Equestrian
camp in the morning, Fine and Performing Arts in the afternoon,
or both. Two weeklong sessions are available beginning July 5-9
and July 12-16.
Summer Arts Adventure participants are able to explore their creative
and horsemanship talents on Glenholme's 100 acre campus encompassing
the core values every family is committed to: those of respect,
fairness, responsibility, honesty, kindness, and community service.
The morning Equestrian camp includes:
Horsemanship, anatomy and physiology of the horse, stable management
and horseback riding. Certified instructors provide introductory
lessons or intermediate riding skills to camp participants.
"We provide our community with the opportunity to participate
in a safe, comprehensive equestrian summer camp and assist them
in developing riding and horsemanship skills," explains Equestrian
Program Coordinator, Heather Perssonatti. "Our participants
will have a meaningful and educating experience that will inspire
them to leave the program with a higher level of respect and deeper
appreciation for the equine and equestrian world."
The afternoon Fine and Performing Arts camp features:
Creating short plays based upon classic and students' original works
of art. The paintings come alive through characterization, comedy
and drama for a final performance on the last day of camp. Classes
are taught by master teaching artists of theatre and fine art.
Robin Ruhf, Summer Arts Coordinator states, "Summer Arts Adventure
offers participants the opportunity to work with other young artists
in creating works of art together in an inspiring setting."
