NEASC Grants Devereux Glenholme Affiliation
WASHINGTON, CT (April 12, 2004) - The Devereux Glenholme School
has been granted affiliation with the New England Association of
Schools and Colleges in the category of Candidate for Accreditation.
Glenholme strives to provide children the best possible education,
care and hopeful futures. In line with this mission, the school
has completed an 18-month Self-Study in preparation for the upcoming
NEASC Peer Review beginning in April.
Founded in 1885, the New England Association of Schools & Colleges
(NEASC) is the nation's oldest regional accrediting association
whose mission is the establishment and maintenance of high standards
for all levels of education, from pre-K to the doctoral level. NEASC
assists nearly 1,866 public and independent schools, colleges and
universities in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
Rhode Island and Vermont along with 114 American/International schools
around the globe.
By seeking accreditation by the NEASC, Devereux Glenholme commits
itself to the continuous work toward school improvement and to meeting
a series of Standards for Accreditation established by the Commission
on Independent Schools. The 18-month Self Study takes the entire
Glenholme community on a step by step reflective journey through
the school's program, identifying its strengths and weaknesses along
with establishing direction for future initiatives. Sharon Murphy,
Education Director of Devereux Glenholme explains, "While the
Self Study has been a long process, it has provided us an excellent
opportunity to reflect on our program as a group. This has caused
us to raise the standards within the program's development and articulate
future goals."
If accredited into NEASC, The Devereux Glenholme School will facilitate
its student's educational careers more effectively by allowing them
to receive a High School diploma directly from their current institution,
Devereux Glenholme.
