Ronald McDonald House Charities Grants Computers to Special
Needs Students
WASHINGTON, CT (February 23, 2004) - Zachary, age nine, excitingly
sits down after dinner at his computer desk to work on an assignment
for tomorrow's English class. Zachary's new computer is one of many
generous donations from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut
and Western Massachusetts, which is available for Zachary to enjoy
both during and after school.
In 1999, Ronald McDonald House Charities donated three touch-screen
educational computers to Devereux Glenholme's Tender Learning Care
program (TLC) for children ages 5-9 with varying levels of academic,
social, and behavioral difficulties. The Devereux Glenholme School's
TLC program has recently been blessed again to receive the Ronald
McDonald House Charities grant for $5,000 used to purchase additional
computers in the students' residential cottages.
This grant demonstrates the joint mission of two non-profit organizations
aiming to improve the health and well being of children. As stated
by Ronald McDonald House Charities, "A strong mind, A strong
body, and a safe, supportive place to grow. These are the things
that every child needs - and deserves - to have."
