Forging Human Relationships Through Unique Venues - A
Dog Day Afternoon
|

WASHINGTON, CT (April 26, 2004) - It is a rare experience when
students get to catch a glimpse into the everyday lives of their
educators and mentors. On Sunday, April 18th the first annual Glenholme
Canine Collection Show provided just that type of enlightening experience.
Last Sunday, Glenholme's soccer field was filled with a unique
blend of four legged companions and their owners, who just happen
to be staff members at the Devereux Glenholme School. Students at
the school not only worked the event as judges, but also presented
each dog to the audience while providing a detailed description
of each breed. More importantly, Glenholme's students were offered
an interesting glimpse into the lives of their teachers and staff
that is not seen in class or during their daily living.
There is an inherent bond between owner and pet - a bond that demonstrates
the positive relationship between man and animal. The children enjoyed
the opportunity to see this in action and view their staff in a
different light. This relationship between people and animals transcends
to that of student and teacher or friend to friend. Yes, there was
a dog show at Glenholme last Sunday, but for the kids and staff
alike a beautiful spring afternoon brought greater understanding
to each relationship, who they are and why they care and much much
more.......
