Washington,CT ... The Glenholme School will hold Summer Arts Adventure, a unique performance and fine arts summer program for young artists. A highlight of the program is the Visiting Artist component. Local professional artists are invited to teach workshops and introduce the students to meet and learn more about the work and life of an artist in today's world. Master teaching artists will lead classes in stage makeup and scenic design, tailored to each child's individual interests. The fourth annual session will inspire fun and creativity in the picturesque natural setting of the beautiful Glenholme campus in Washington, CT.

Visiting master teaching artist Marla Truini, a professional actress who lives in Roxbury, is the instructor for a special workshop on stage makeup. Ms. Truini, has performed locally at the Seven Angels Theater and at the Brookfield Playhouse. She also played Jeanette on the CBS soap opera "As The World Turns," and has worked in several feature films, including "Stella," "New York Stories" and "Working Girl." Ms. Truini is also the head of the drama department at the Westover School in Middlebury, CT.

Peter Ruhf, master teaching artist, who lives in nearby Bantam, CT, will lead a workshop on art and scenic design. Mr. Ruhf, whose artwork has been shown in fine art galleries in Washington D.C. and New York City, has also worked as a scenic designer for many Off-Broadway productions.

Under the direction of Robin Ruhf, the Devereux Glenholme School's art coordinator and drama instructor, Glenholme's Summer Arts Adventure offers an integrated arts approach to local children 7-13, using drama and fine arts to inspire fun and creativity.

"Drawing on each child's creativity and imagination, as well as the individual experiences and interests of each child, we create an artistic group experience which ends with an entertaining final performance and art exhibition." Ms. Ruhf said.
