Devereux Glenholme Presents Caring Citizen Award to Bronsons

On Sunday, October 27th, the Devereux Glenholme School hosted a dinner with Mia Farrow at the Mayflower Inn in Washington, CT that included the presentation of the Harry Van Sinderen Caring Citizen Award to Howard and Estelle Bronson.

Forty guests attended the dinner honoring the Bronsons. Howard Bronson, who passed away at the age of 80 on October 1, and his wife Estelle were celebrated for their years of meaningful lifelong service to the community.

The award is named for Harry Van Sinderen, brother-in-law of the benefactor of Devereux Glenholme. It celebrates the enduring values of caring, respect, fairness, responsibility, honesty, and community service - values that are the cornerstone of the program's educational base. Ms. Farrow presented the award, a large pewter pitcher, to Mrs. Bronson on behalf of the school. Devereux Glenholme is a values-based specialized boarding school that provides a therapeutic program and exceptional learning environment to address varying levels of academic, social and emotional development in children ages 5 to 18.

Proceeds from the dinner will be directed to the enhancement of the school's Arts Program. The professionals at Glenholme utilize an arts integration approach to infuse drama, art and music to extend learning and thinking skills and create links for a greater understanding. Additionally, the arts stimulate positive appropriate social interaction and build each child's confidence in the traditional learning environment.
