IMMEDIATE RELEASE May, 2001 Washington,CT ... MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION TRAINS VOLUNTEERS AT GLENHOLME. Devereux Glenholme in Washington, CT is hosting an initial orientation for Make-A-Wish volunteers on Thursday, June 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Make-A-Wish allows children with chronic or terminal illnesses to express a wish, something they dream of doing, and then the organization works to make that dream come true. Children often choose DisneyWorld or a special vacation, and Make-A-Wish will provide everything they need to make that happen. Coordinators of the Glenholme Community Service Program, Lisa Williams and Bonnie Goulet, invited Make-A-Wish to meet at the school in hopes of attracting more volunteers from Northwest Connecticut. Although the organization is well staffed in other parts of the state, Make-A-Wish hasn't had enough people to properly serve children and families in the Northwestern part of Connecticut. This initial orientation will be held on the Glenholme campus, Lower Training Room. Call 868-7377, ext. 351, to register with Ms. Goulet or Ms. Williams and to get directions to the campus. Glenholme is part of The Devereux Foundation, with sites in 12 states and the District of Columbia. Glenholme provides a complete residential and academic program for children, ages 5 to 16, with emotional, behavioral and learning difficulties.
