Washington, CT... Students at The Devereux Glenholme School of Washington, CT, are seeking other student groups involved in community service. Teens Who Care Foundation, a group of students who have been active in community service at the school, have a small foundation through which they can make matching grants to other student groups.

The Foundation is based on a curriculum that allows students to meet weekly and practice leadership skills, discuss social issues, and learn to respect each other's opinions. They can use funds to make grants to other groups, as well as instigate a new project of their own.

Students at Devereux Glenholme have been active in a Community Service Program for the past four years, totaling more than 8,000 hours of service. They have helped run community events, made weekly visits to a nursing home for the past several years, and many other things. The Teens Who Care Foundation provides them with a way to encourage other youth to do similar work.

Devereux Glenholme is part of the Devereux Foundation, a national foundation with centers in 12 states and the District of Columbia. The Washington, CT campus provides a residential academic program for children, ages 5 to 16, with emotional, behavioral and learning difficulties.
