Washington, CT ... Students at The Glenholme School have expanded on the concept of National Youth Service Day (April 14-15) by taking on the whole month of April as a time of community service.

The school's Community Service Program has already logged more than 6,000 hours of service in the past four years, and they'll have no problem adding significantly to that in the weeks ahead.

The first event on the schedule is the MS Walk on the Litchfield Green on April 9. Next they will make plans to attend a volunteer dinner on April 11 at Candlewood Valley Care Center in New Milford. Under the guidance of Glenholme's Community Service Coordinators, Bonnie Goulet and Lisa Williams, the students have visited with CVCC residents once a week for the past four years.

On April 13, Teens Who Care, the student-run foundation that gives seed money to other groups involved in community service, will present "A Model Community Service Program" to educators at the Assets-Based Conference at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
