Washington, CT... Kart Wheels 2000 drew more than 75 drivers on Sunday, July 16 at The Glenholme School. The event featured more than 24 teams competing for trophies and an American pie bake-off. Kart Wheels was made possible by the generous support of more than 75 volunteers, led by co-chairs Denise Trevenen and Laura Neminski, and a number of individual and business sponsors.

Challenge Race Trophy Winners were Washington Fire Department, Third Place, Team Wreck, Second Place, and The Mayflower Inn, First Place. In the Grand Prix Race New Milford High School took Third Place, Team Bubba Too, Second Place, and Team Bubba, First Place.

Area chefs and restaurants donated pies for the Great America Pie Bake-Off. After the judging, pies were sold to benefit special programs for the children of Glenholme. Winners included Glenholme Culinary Team, Third Place, Ovens of France, Second Place, and The Mayflower Inn, First Place.

The event was free but all proceeds from sponsored teams and the Pie Bake-Off will be used to support programs such as art, theater, music and equestrian studies for the children at Glenholme.
