VOCATIONAL COUNSELOR

A boarding school for children with special needs is looking for creative and energetic team members. The Vocational Instructor is responsible for implementing the vocational and enforcing the educational elements of the program utilizing behavior management to advise and motivate students through positive reinforcement.

SPECIFIC TASKS:

  • Instruct individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Establish and enforce behavioral rules and procedures to maintain order among students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs.
  • Provide information for teachers and staff members involved in helping students or graduates identify and pursue employment opportunities.
  • Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

  • FT 7AM-4PM or 3PM-11PM shift with rotating weekends. Bachelors degree in Psychology, Sociology or Education, or related field. Experience working with adolescents preferred.
