Glenholme Grizzlies Take to the Court

The Glenholme Grizzlies faced the athletic powerhouse, the Rumsey Blue Dogs, in their basketball season opener on Thursday, January 12, 2012. The first half of the game consisted of an incredible back and forth match-up between the teams, with strong defense and offense by both sides. As the clock ticked down the final minutes of the first half, the Grizzlies rallied together with a 6-0 run, tying the score at 19-19.

In the second half, the Blue Dogs clamped down on their defense to hold off the Grizzlies’ offensive effort. Although the Blue Dogs ultimately prevailed (29-46), the Grizzlies’ effort and determination were not reflected in the final score. Each player demonstrated great maturity and made a solid contribution to the game. Going forward, the resilient Grizzlies will use this on-court learning experience to hone their playing skills and prepare for the rest of the season.

The interscholastic sports program at The Glenholme School fosters health and wellness, while building school spirit, teamwork, and strong friendships. By actively participating in competitive sports, including basketball, tennis, softball, and soccer, Glenholme students learn the importance of hard work and become more confident in their own abilities.

We look forward to the Grizzlies’ match-ups against Grove and Maplebrook over the next two weeks as they prepare for a rematch against the Rumsey Blue Dogs on January 31st – marking the midpoint of the season. Go Grizzlies!
