Glenholme's equestrian program offers students therapeutic, educational, and recreational opportunities in equitation, horsemanship, stable management, vocational education, and community service.
The program is committed to safety and horsemanship and incorporates the school's core values specific to Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Community Service, Kindness and Fairness linked to the Glenholme Motivational Management Approach and value-based education. It provides an optimal learning environment that emphasizes the development of a strong, positive character and moral responsibility.
The riding program provides instruction for all students' ages and ability levels. All children participating in any aspect of the equestrian program receive standardized instruction in the natural psychology and behavior of the horse, equine safety practices and general horse care.
Standard accepted curricula are used for teaching and incorporate high standards that are based on practices from the American Association for Horsemanship Safety (AAHS), North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and United States Pony Club (USPC). |
