The Devereux Glenholme School is accredited by The New England Association of School and Colleges. Students completing our course of study are eligible to receive a high school diploma from Glenholme. The Devereux Glenholme School middle and high school curriculum follows The Connecticut Frameworks K-12 Curricular Goals and Standards. When the Connecticut Framework differs from the standards of the student’s home state, we adjust to ensure that all requirements are followed. Glenholme’s course of study includes English at the high school level and reading and language arts in middle school, mathematics, history, science, the arts and physical education. Spanish is the foreign language that is offered and health is a requirement for all high school students. Electives in writing, technology, strategies for learning, life skills, food services and equestrian care are available for students to take.
In addition to all our Glenholme courses, Glenholme students have the ability to take on-line classes through Virtual High School (VHS). Here, students have the ability to expand our traditional course offerings with a wide variety of additional courses offered on-line. On-line classes also offer the ability for students to take an AP course when appropriate. For the college bound student the on-line experience provides exposure to and guidance successfully navigating the on-line experience. Since most college students now take at least one on-line class in college, this experience is very important. Glenholme supplements the on-line teacher with one of our faculty in the class to assist with organizational issues, time management, and individualization of strategies, accommodations and assignments. |
