Life at The Glenholme School
approximates family life
as much as possible. All
children live in small,
group cottages, with consistent
adult supervision, and they
experience many of the challenges
of living in a small community
or family as they would
elsewhere. The school's
philosophy focuses not just
on academics, but on the
child's whole experience.
Learning to live with other
people is an essential element
of this program.
Residential
services are instructional
in nature and focus on teaching
important skills in socialization,
communication, coping, daily
living and improved interpersonal
relationships. Recreational
activities include intramural
and interscholastic sports,
elective activity periods,
fine and performing arts,
horticulture, equestrian
program, gymnasium, activity/arts
center, go-cart track, greenhouses,
tennis courts, hiking trails,
general store and a heated
indoor swimming pool. Exposure
to activities in the community
and the cultural arts are
emphasized. The therapeutic
environment is designed
to encourage children and
adolescents to perform those
skills, activities, and
behaviors necessary to develop
successfully and reach their
true potential.
Medical
staff are available 24 hours
a day.
