The Arts

Glenholme students participate in a superb visual and performing arts program; these are key elements in each student’s daily life at school. Talents are developed and discovered through courses, choral and drama performances, field trips and frequent exposure to the cultural impacts available in the northeast. Many gifted musicians, singers and artists find Glenholme’s program meets their therapeutic needs as well. Others are equally stimulated by dance, photography, band and the various mediums available in art class. The integration of the arts in education and boarding programming stimulates greater understanding of social, emotional, academic and behavioral areas.

Technology in the arts is an ever changing opportunity to infuse digital high tech into the arts. PC’s are equipped with digital software offering a variety of programs useful in music composition and recording. The students maintain their own student web site that offers a virtual tour of artwork and talents along with the events and news of campus activities.

The treatment results of the arts are evident in the classroom and other settings about campus as well as external environments. Stimulating outlets in dramatic style and expression through mime, improvisational and comedy, artistic mediums such as drawing, painting, building and sculpting encourage improved social expectations and displaying acceptable behavioral interactions.

The Center for the Arts hosts’ musicals, lecture series of area professionals, concerts, literary features, and gallery’s where student artwork is showcased. Families and visitors often notice the display of student artwork throughout the campus
