Glenholme’s Culture & Diversity Club has a tradition of celebrating the heritage of our students from different parts of the world. Last week Aaron addressed the school community during a special lunch celebrating The Cayman Islands. The focus was on the annual celebration, National Heroes Day, where different people are honored and celebrated. This year Aaron’s mom was selected as one of the heroes to be recognized! National Heroes Day has been a public holiday since 2003.
Aaron also introduced the lunch meal that was prepared to share the celebratory foods of his Caribbean island. Salsa, Taco’s rice and beans were topped off by a traditional fruit punch.
These lunchtime celebrations are a wonderful opportunity for students to express their heritage and practice public speaking, which provides the needed support and confidence in themselves.
