On Wednesday evening, the entire Glenholme community gathered in The Center for the Arts for the long-standing year-end tradition: the holiday concert. This year, 35 students gave a powerful performance with astonishing variety of songs which included Chanukah, Christmas and winter-time classics to modern festive musical masterpieces by the full chorus, the A Capella group, soloists, duets and instrumentalists. The 60-minute event, aptly named “In the Light of the Holidays!” was a truly joyful time for all.
Highlights incorporated several impressive songs delivered by the full chorus, including the “Christmas Canon,” “Let It Go,” and “Hear Those Holiday Bells.” Solo and duet highpoints contained “Baby It’s Cold Outside” by Hannah and Nick and “Mary Did You Know” by Sierra. The instrumentalist provided powerful variations of seasonal songs. The chorus led the performance-ending sing-along of “Deck the Halls,” when suddenly Santa, Mrs. Claus, and one of their elves appeared, greeted students, guests and joined in singing the merry song while providing holiday treats.
The remarkable talents of all the performers were highlighted throughout the jubilant occasion. Before a full house of faculty, family and friends, the sounds of their voices and instruments were smooth and strong. The audience responded with abundant applause and many accolades for the students and their faculty.
One parent noted, “This was truly a wonderful performance. I am so delighted for my son, who has matured so much as an artist and a person since he enrolled at Glenholme. The arts, especially choral and performing, are a big component of his success.”
